Situation
On 4 April 12, 2017, Bashar al-Assad used toxic gas in the Idlib Province and 69 civilians were killed. The chemicals used in the attack were developed at the Duma Bio Chemical Facility, The Asad Chemical Facility, and the Damascus Chemical Complex. The toxic gas was weaponized and assembled into bombs at the Fthirma Missile Research Site.Mig-23s from Shayrat AB delivered the bombs. The Asad Chemical Facility was destroyed by the 877th in Gas Mask Alpha. The Syrian Air Force experienced signifcant losses, seriously affecting its ability to repel attacks. The ground-based air defense sites have been attrited rendering them ineffective. Russian aircraft and air defenses have been sent in to reinforce Syrian defenses.
Mission
The 877th (v) Fighter Squadron has been tasked with the complete destruction of the Fthima Missile Research Site and the Damascus Chemical Complex in the northeast part of Damascus.
